So it appears that Norman Osborn is getting the Carnage symbiote to become the Red Goblin.  It was brought to my attention that a UK Amazon synopsis of the upcoming Spider-Man arc actually spoiled this detail.  I held off posting that spoiler because Marvel didn't release the information and I thought it might actually be too spoil-y for this site.  However, now that this variant cover has been released, it is safe to say that the cat is officially out of the bag.

This is Dan Slott's finally Spidey adventure (he is moving on to Iron Man) and will mark the first time he gets to use Carnage in one of his stories.

We Are Venom

So if you are a regular around TVS, you might have noticed the lack of posts about October's VENOM movie. That's because I have been waiting to post official information and not rumors (since I was burned by them in the past). Well, it looks like I can finally bust out the 'Movie News' tag because Sony has released its first photo from VENOM!  Granted, it is just a picture of Eddie Brock, but it does give us a little information:

This all but confirms that Eddie Brock will be a journalist, but zooming in on his notepad we also get a couple easter eggs:

So, how exactly does the Life Foundation go about testing its pharmaceuticals?
What about the allegations your empire is built on?
That you recruit the most vulnerable of us to volunteer for the tests that end up […] them?

Finally, there is also a short video from the set that confirms the film takes place in San Francisco and will take a lot of material from Lethal Protector:

Tell me that didn't give you goosebumps when the crowd is chanting WE ARE VENOM!  Honestly, I had my doubts when the rumors first starting rolling in, but seeing something official be released has got me hyped again!

VENOM is due to release October 5th.  Let's start planning an after show party!

Marvel is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Venom in 2018 - beginning with an 20" x 13" Web of Venom poster by Clayton Crain. Coming hot on the heels of Eddie Brock's reunion with the symbiote in Venom #150, this map will point out the various landmarks on this road to Venom's birthday and tease what's to come - including the "Poison X" crossover and a "new secret Venom project" coming in May. 

If you think their math for Venom's 30th anniversary being 2018 is a bit off, keep in mind they're not using the symbiote's debut in 1984 but rather later in 1988 when the symbiote turned on Peter Parker, officially becoming Venom.  

The Web of Venom map is scheduled to be on-sale at comic stores beginning January 31.
