Carnage invades Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 in November

If you ever dreamed of having Carnage team up with the likes of Wolverine, Captain America, or The Hulk....your dreams can come true on November 5th. For $10, you can download Carnage (along with Cable and Psylocke) into Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 for the XBox 360 and PS3 versions.

You can check out the Carnage trailer here. You can read my thoughts on MUA2 here.

If you download this content, let us know what you think.

Below is the alternative costume for Carnage. Looks like the Ultimate Carnage (Gwen Stacy) version. I think it looks cool...

where are all the symbiotes?

It's a little hard keeping a site dedicated to Venom fresh when Marvel decides to give the character a couple months off...

In the next three months, we have Venom making slight appearances in the Dark Avengers monthly series and the conclusion of Anti-Venom's New Ways to Live limited series; that's about all the action he will get in '09. Meanwhile, Carnage hasn't been seen around for years, and it seems Marvel has all but given up on creating any new Toxin stories.

I guess I'm just a little frustrated because I really have no Venom activity to look forward to and get me excited. I'm not really buying the whole 'Venom is a team player' aspect for the Dark Avengers, for some reason he hasn't met up with Spidey (in any of Spider-Man's on going titles) since this past summer, and his latest video game appearance doesn't have me dying to go back and play it again.

Am I the only one who would continuously purchase and look forward to another monthly series of Venom?? I'm talking more like the 90's Lethal Protector limit series run, not the horrendous on going series in 2000.

mua2 carnage trailer

Well if you disagree with my review and actually liked Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, then this might be for you. Carnage will be a downloadable character for MUA2 (no word yet on when and for how much). I'll admit, it would be cool to play as Carnage (I don't think we've ever had the chance before in any other video game), but the overall experience with this game left a sour taste in my mouth. I'm not sure if I want to spend money to play as the spawn of Venom. The 'giant head move' looks a little corny to me.

Check out the Official MUA2 website for even more information about our favorite red symbiote.

REVIEW: marvel ultimate alliance 2

The Story: It is Iron Man vs Captain America as the heroes in the Marvel universe fight against themselves in a Civil War.

The Good: Fusions - The best thing about this game is seeing how different characters' powers interact. There are a couple different types (guided, target, clearing) to give a lot of variety. Replay value - There are basically two stories in the game (pro-registration and anti-registration) so playing the game again and choosing a different path yields a different story.

The Bad: Venom - What a disappointment! Not all of the characters are unlocked at the beginning of the game. Okay, fine. After defeating Venom once, he should be available...nope. The second time I fought him, I thought for sure I was going to be able to play as him...wrong. It was after the third or fourth time (can't remember if he was thrown in as a mini boss along the way) before he was a playable character! Doesn't Marvel have thousands of characters they could use? Why make us fight the same characters multiple times? Venom Pt II - His voice, his dialogue, his costume, his moves...all terrible! I cringed whenever he was talking in a cut scene. As for the costume, the designers must of looked at the first issue he was a Thunderbolt, made him a little more bulky, and threw in a hundred more bulging veins all over his body (the above pic is his alternate costume...way better!). And his game plan is horrible! His 'special' attacks aren't anything special, his defense is all but nothing, and his fusions aren't interesting.

The Overall: 1 outta 5. After loving X-Men Legends and the first Ultimate Alliance I was really pumped for this game, but it was a let down from the beginning. Wolverine is way too powerful (as always), there are a ton of Spider-Man and X-Men villains alone that I could name that should of made an appearance, and there didn't seem to be any consistency in the levels (from Latveria to another dimension to an African jungle). This video game version of Venom is just as bad as the 'Spider-Man: Friend or Foe' version. I would not recommend this game.

REVIEW: sinister spider-man

The Story: Venom has been posing as Spider-Man ever since Norman Osborn created his Dark Avengers. Mac Gargan has a vendetta against the newest mayor of NYC, J. Jonah Jameson. The Redeemer creates a group of 'super' villains to stop Venom.

The Good: The Redeemer's gang - I liked that this series created new adversaries for Venom. The characters actually had a decent back story for only being used for one series. Issue 3 rocked because it allowed Venom to literally destroy these guys without the typical 'he-is-going-to-jail-but-will-breakout-soon' ending. Mac Gargan as Venom - This has been the best set of comics ever since Mac became Venom, simply because he is fighting solo! No Thunderbolts, No Dark Avengers, just Venom wrecking havoc on NYC! Venom needs to ditch the teamwork and go back to being a one man show!

The Bad: Issue 4's cover - You might of caught my little rant when they first released the artwork for Issue 4. Basically, its the Worst. Cover. Ever. Issue 4's fight - Without giving away the entire story, how can you have multiple teen/adult content (dead hookers, a giant naked man, ripping body parts off and eating them) throughout the series and then have Bullseye use a poodle in the climatic fight in the last issue...it just made it seem childish and not funny.

The Overall: 4 outta 5. The first three issues were stellar, the 4th was a letdown. The artwork was unique and the story is good. Definitely worth checking out! Bring on more solo Venom adventures!!
